You are supposed to apply mineral oil monthly for a year to allow oxidation until the surface stops darkening.

Granite

Granite is a hard volcanic rock that has excellent durability and is heat resistant. It comes in various light and dark colors with different variations. Granite is unique because granite can cut into various sizes according to your preference. It’s a low maintenance countertop, but you are required to use less harsh cleaning products.

Quartz

Quartz is engineered from natural quartz, heat resistant up to 400 degrees, and diverse colors. It is non-porous, corrosion, and resists scratching. If you have a big family or enjoy preparing daily meals, quartz could be the best option. You will not worry about lemon juicing staining your countertop or scratching it while chopping. They are more durable as compared to marble and granite and give you a similar look.

Wood

A wood countertop gives your kitchen a warm feel. While wood is a great choice, few people opt for it. When wood is sealed well, it can be non-porous and thus reduce the staining. You can opt for assembled wood or butcher block, which can last long. You can use a wood counter to cut directly, but the marks can be ground for germs. To avoid it, use a separate cutting area. Apply mineral finish once a month.

Concrete

Concrete is popular now and incorporated in various kitchen designs to give it an industrial vibe. It’s tough to heat, water, resistant to stains, and hard to get scratches. Most concrete structures are designed for separate kitchens and can be hard to customize. It’s highly durable, can be painted or left with its natural look. It’s a low maintenance countertop and needs to be resealed every three years.

Solid Surface

Most current kitchens have a solid surface like the countertops. They are available in various colors, and you can use them for both counter to and backslashes. They are non-porous and easy to maintain. They can burn and get scratched easily; you will need to use a cutting board. When under high heat, they can easily mold to any style.
Whatever type of kitchen counter you choose, ensure it fits your needs and the desired design. Ensure your kitchen is clean and well organized. An excellent and clean kitchen makes your cooking easier.
